POETRY TOGETHER
‘Poetry Together’ - this is my passion project: getting young people and older people together, learning poetry by heart, having tea, having cake, having fun.
Encouraged by HRH The Duchess of Cornwall, now HM The Queen Consort, Dame Judi Dench, poet and former Children’s Laureate Michael Rosen, and my grandchildren, among others, with Dukes Education we launched the project in 2019. So far hundreds of schools and old people’s homes across the UK have taken part.
Because of the Covid pandemic, 2020 was a bit different our PoetryTogether 2020 poetry parties were a bit different, too. Hundreds of schools and care homes still took part, but they connected virtually and performed their poems online.
In 2021 and 2022 we were back to normal and more than 400 schools and care homes in the UK and overseas took part in Poetry Together. If you want to find out more about our exciting plans for 2023, check out the www.poetrytogether.com website or get in touch with the Poetry Together team.
